Odd Deck Terms of Use
Last updated: October 2026
The short version
- Grown-ups: these are the rules for using Odd Deck. By letting your kid use it, you agree to them for both of you.
- Kids: have a grown-up read this with you. The main rules are: be kind, make whatever games you like, and use scissors with a grown-up.
- Games you make are yours. The ducks, art and Odd Deck itself are ours. You can print our ducks as many times as you like for playing at home or in class.
- It's free, it's new, and some things might wobble. We do our best, but we can't promise everything works perfectly.
The full version is below.
The website at odddeck.lovable.app, and at odddeck.app if we publish it there (the "Site") and the Odd Deck game-design service offered through it, including printed games and related emails (together, the "Service"), are operated by Curio Studio, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as Odd Deck ("Odd Deck", "Company", "we", "us", "our").
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are the legally binding rules for using the Site and Service. By using the Site or Service, you accept these Terms, together with our Privacy Policy at odddeck.lovable.app/privacy, which is part of these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site or Service.
1. Definitions
- "Grown-up" means a person who is 18 or older (or the age of majority where they live).
- "Child" means a person under 18. Odd Deck is designed for children aged about 8 to 12, playing with grown-ups.
- "Game" means a card game designed with the Service, including its question, story, ducks, deck, rules, and printed pages.
- "Your Game" means a Game you designed, not counting the Odd Deck Materials in it.
- "Odd Deck Materials" means everything we provide in the Service: the ducks and their parts, mascots, card frames, art, sounds, written rules templates, game recipes, Field notes, the robots, and the software.
- "Save Code" means a link or QR code that the Service creates to hold a Game.
2. Who can use Odd Deck
2.1 Grown-ups. You must be a grown-up to agree to these Terms.
2.2 Children.
- Children may use Odd Deck only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on the child's behalf.
- Parents and guardians are responsible for their child's use of the Service.
- Odd Deck has no accounts. Children should not send us contact information, and the For grown-ups forms are not for them. How we handle children's information is explained in the Privacy Policy.
2.3 News sign-up and feedback.
- Only grown-ups may sign up for Odd Deck news or send feedback through the For grown-ups forms.
- You confirm that the email address you give is yours.
- You can unsubscribe from news at any time.
- Ideas you send as feedback are Suggestions (Section 3.6). Please don't include a child's name or details.
3. Using the Site and Service
3.1 License.
- We give you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable, limited license to use the Site and Service for your own personal, family, or classroom use, subject to these Terms.
- The Service is free for now. We plan to charge for it in the future. We'll tell you clearly before anything you use stops being free, and purchase terms will apply to anything you buy.
3.2 Restrictions. You may not:
- (a) sell, rent, license, or otherwise commercially exploit the Site, Service, or Odd Deck Materials, except as Section 4 allows;
- (b) copy, modify, reverse engineer, or make derivative works of the software;
- (c) use the Service to build a similar or competing product;
- (d) use automated means to access the Service at volumes beyond normal personal use, or to scrape it;
- (e) remove any copyright or other notices.
3.3 Changes to the Service. We may change, pause, or stop all or part of the Site or Service at any time, with or without notice. We aren't liable to you for doing so.
3.4 No support obligation. We're happy to hear from you, but we don't promise support or maintenance.
3.5 Ownership.
- We and our licensors own the Site, the Service, and the Odd Deck Materials, including all copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights in them.
- These Terms don't transfer any of those rights to you, except the limited licenses in Sections 3.1 and 4.
- There are no implied licenses.
3.6 Ideas about Odd Deck.
- If you send us suggestions or ideas about Odd Deck ("Suggestions"), you give us a free, perpetual, worldwide license to use them in any way, with no obligation to you.
- Please don't send anything you consider confidential.
4. Your Games
4.1 Your Game is yours.
- We don't claim ownership of the ideas, names, stories, and rules choices you put into a Game.
- The Odd Deck Materials inside it (for example, a duck's art or a card frame) stay ours.
4.2 Printing. You may print Games, including the Odd Deck Materials in them:
- as many times as you like;
- for personal, family, and non-profit classroom use;
- for gifts.
You may not sell printed Games or Odd Deck Materials, or use them in a product or service, without our written permission.
4.3 Saving, and Save Codes.
- Games are saved on your device, or in a file or Save Code you keep. We don't keep a copy.
- If you clear your browser data or lose the file or code, we can't recover the Game.
- Anyone who has a Save Code can open the Game it holds. Share it only with people you're happy to share the Game with.
4.4 What goes into a Game. Please don't put into a Game anything that:
- is hateful, violent, sexual, or mean about a real person;
- includes anyone's personal information, beyond a first name in "Made by";
- you don't have the right to use.
We may remove or refuse anything that breaks these rules, if it ever reaches us. We have no duty to monitor Games.
5. Indemnification
If a grown-up's misuse of the Service, or violation of these Terms or the law, causes a claim against us, that grown-up agrees to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with the claim, including attorneys' fees. We'll tell you about any such claim. You may not settle it without our consent.
6. Printed games, playing, and other people
6.1 Physical play.
- Printed Games involve paper and, often, scissors.
- Cut-out cards and pieces can be small. Keep them away from children under 3.
- A grown-up should supervise cutting and play.
- To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for injuries or damage from printing, cutting, or playing.
6.2 The robots and the Lab.
- The robots are computer simulations that follow fixed rules. Their results ("the first player won 53 of 100 games") are estimates of how a Game might play.
- They are not a promise of how a real game will go.
- The Field notes and Game lab are for learning and fun. They are not a substitute for a teacher or a formal curriculum.
6.3 Links and services from others.
- The Site may link to other websites, or rely on services from others, such as our host and printers.
- We don't control them and aren't responsible for them. Their terms and policies apply when you use them.
6.4 Other people. Any dealings you have with other people, including people you share your Game with, are between you and them.
6.5 Copyright complaints.
- We respect copyright. If you believe something on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to the contact in Section 12.
- We may remove the material, and we may block repeat infringers.
7. Disclaimers
THE SITE AND SERVICE ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DON'T PROMISE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, THAT SAVED GAMES WILL ALWAYS OPEN, OR THAT ROBOT RESULTS WILL MATCH REAL PLAY. IF THE LAW REQUIRES ANY WARRANTY, IT LASTS NINETY (90) DAYS FROM FIRST USE.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW THESE EXCLUSIONS, SO SOME OF THEM MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE WON'T BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA (INCLUDING LOST GAMES), ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
SOME JURISDICTIONS DON'T ALLOW THESE LIMITS, SO SOME OF THEM MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CAN'T BE LIMITED BY LAW.
9. Ending use
- You can stop using Odd Deck at any time. Clearing your browser data removes everything it saved on your device.
- We may suspend or end anyone's access at any time, for any reason, including for breaking these Terms.
- The following sections survive: 1, 3.5, 3.6, 4.1, 4.2, and 5 through 11.
10. Disputes
10.1 Talk to us first.
- Most problems can be fixed with an email.
- Before starting any legal claim, you agree to email us (Section 12) with a description of the problem. We'll try in good faith to resolve it within 60 days.
- Legal time limits pause while we do.
10.2 Where and which law.
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
- Any dispute not resolved informally will be decided in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
- Either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead, if it qualifies.
11. General
11.1 Changes to these Terms.
- We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date shows the latest version.
- For material changes, we'll post a notice on the Site.
- Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
11.2 Electronic communications. You agree that notices and communications from us by email or on the Site satisfy any legal requirement that they be in writing.
11.3 California notice. California residents may contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs:
- by mail: 400 R Street, Sacramento, CA 95814;
- by phone: (800) 952-5210.
11.4 Entire agreement.
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
- If we don't enforce a provision, that doesn't waive it.
- If any provision is unenforceable, it is changed only as much as needed, and the rest stands.
- "Including" means "including without limitation."
- You may not transfer these Terms. We may transfer them, for example to an affiliate or a buyer of the business.
11.5 Copyright and trademarks.
- Copyright © 2026 Curio Studio, LLC. All rights reserved.
- "Odd Deck," the Odd Deck ducks and mascots, and our logos are our trademarks. You may not use them without our written permission, except when printing Games as Section 4.2 allows.
